Q. What kind of company is EX Healthcare?
CEO Lee Yong-hee > EX Healthcare, headquartered in the Startup Building of Shingu University, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, is a bio-healthcare technology R&D company established in January. In particular, it has been at the center of the topic by developing a healthcare solution to prevent muscle loss by applying the exosomal miRNA boosting platform technology.
Q. What motivated you to establish EX Healthcare?
CEO Lee Yong-hee > It is no exaggeration to say that my personal history was the decisive moment that EX Healthcare discovered the world's first 'skin exosomal miRNA boosting technology' and researched and developed healthcare items that applied it. As a former cosmetic researcher at a large corporation, I had a longing to pioneer a new way of inner health based on my long experience and know-how, and I found a hint to achieve this in exosomes. Exosomes are called 'delivery boxes' that transmit signals between organs and between cells. I decided to implement a new technology by focusing on the exosomes secreted from the skin, and I started researching in earnest, paying attention to the functions and effects of the exosomes themselves. After repeated efforts, I confirmed that miRNA was the key to the solution I was trying to implement, and at my own expense, I commissioned an experiment to an external organization and secured verification data. When the clues to the new technology were released, the battle between my sister and father-in-law began. My sister and father-in-law suffered from sarcopenia because they couldn't eat well and couldn't move well while receiving chemotherapy, which led to a low quality of life. In the end, I, who sent these two to heaven at the same time, established EX Healthcare to realize a healthy life for mankind through the development of a solution that maximizes the efficacy and effect with advanced exosome technology and has reached today.
Q. What are the achievements of EX Healthcare so far?
CEO Lee Yong-hee > Since its establishment in January, EX Healthcare has not only attracted investment, but also received an initial start-up package, the Seongnam Startup Contest (Challenge! , Export Dodream Companies, etc., were selected one after another to recognize corporate competitiveness. In addition, EX Healthcare has filed a total of 14 domestic and foreign intellectual property rights applications and registrations so far, and plans to launch a healthcare brand Dermafit based on this and enter the US market through Kickstarter in January.
Q. Did you say that you launched 'Derma Fit', a healthcare solution for applying?
CEO Lee Yong-hee > EX Healthcare's ambitiously introduced Dermafit is a healthcare brand that discovers and applies skin exosomal miRNA boosting technology. The first line of anti-muscle loss cream, Basic, Athlete, and Slim, was produced in three types. It has acquired various overseas certifications such as EVE vegan and Germany's Dermatest to increase its reliability. As such, EX Healthcare has developed three products that have the effect of preventing muscle loss after exercise by utilizing our technology.
First of all, you can use basic products basically, and athletic women are expected to have good effects when applied by high-ranking women. Also, slim products are made for women. Of course, it is important for women to prevent muscle loss, but there is a need for cellulite and skin elasticity, so we added such effective ingredients to this product. Therefore, slim products are expected to be loved by many women. Dermafit's first line of 3 types of anti-muscle loss creams are expected to enter the US in January next year. As the cosmetics standards in Korea and the US and Europe are different, like the successful case of a famous shampoo brand, I plan to enter the US first and record results and then land in Korea. In response, Dermafit products are already being tested in two distribution channels, including Silicon Valley, and the response is encouraging. However, this is only the release table of EX Healthcare. EX Healthcare has three types of muscle loss prevention creams, a sunshield line that prevents muscle loss and UV protection when used outdoors in the future, a clean line that purifies and cares for tired skin after exercise, and EXO for high-quality skin in daily life. A care line for secretion is also prepared. In addition, EX Healthcare plans to introduce a family line for the elderly with pruritus, and furthermore, by preparing a follow-up brand for Dermafit, it will continue to provide customers with the most special experience.
Q. Why do you quickly stand out despite your short history?
CEO Lee Yong-hee > It is clear why EX Healthcare is quickly gaining prominence despite its short history. It is because it is going down a path that has never existed before with a niche market, that is, an innovative bio-healthcare solution. EX Healthcare has no intention of competing with the existing protein supplement industry. Rather, I aim for a win-win relationship with protein supplement brands. This is because protein supplements and Dermafit products are complementary, and customers can apply Dermafit products while consuming enough protein supplements. In other words, instead of destroying the existing market, we want to naturally blend into the existing market and create synergy.
Q. What are your future plans?
CEO Lee Yong-hee > I would like to provide a solution that enables the employees of the company to lead a healthy life without worrying, broadly, the Korean people, and more broadly, people around the world. As 'Let's live happily and healthy together' is my life motto, I will continue to study and live a life of giving in order to realize the value of living together. In the same vein, EX Healthcare intends to open a new horizon in the field of biotechnology by expanding its application fields to health functional foods, biopharmaceuticals, and medical devices, starting from medical cosmetics. Furthermore, we plan to fulfill our social responsibility for the products and services provided to customers and realize a healthy life for mankind by developing solutions that maximize efficacy. In addition, I plan to actively hire women with career breaks and the disabled to prepare a foundation so that they can resume social activities, while also supporting study abroad expenses for researchers who are unable to continue their studies due to practical problems.
